A different approach to psychotherapy - with an emphasis on strengthening your mental health immune system rather than trying to alleviate symptoms directly. The focus is on living authentically, so that your thoughts, emotions, desires, and behavior are consistent with personal values. When you are living purposefully and in accord with human nature, your resilience to life stressors improves dramatically.
- We begin with a discussion about your concerns - including level of distress and impact on functioning
- Next, we explore your worldview and conceptualization of values, purpose, and meaning
- Then, using your ultimate value as the “magnetic north” for psychotherapy, make adjustments as needed across all four domains of your life - the physical, social, personal, and spiritual
Scheduling is easy with flexible times and reasonable fees:
- Early morning, midday, and evening appointments available - with limited Saturday afternoon appointment times
- In-person, individual psychotherapy session rate: $75.00 for 40 minutes
- To schedule an initial appointment - call or email Authentic Human
At Authentic Human, I do not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) software to record our conversations, create progress notes, psychotherapy notes, treatment plans, or other clinical documents. Furthermore, I do not accept private insurance - all services are self pay. The rationale for not accepting insurance reimbursement is as follows:
- Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis for reimbursement of psychotherapeutic services. In my experience, many persons do not need (or want) a mental health diagnosis.
- It may not be in your best interest to have a third party - such as an insurance company - limit the number of counseling sessions or specify the method the therapist must use to address your unique concerns.
- Insurance companies may request access to your counseling progress notes, treatment goals and objectives, and other sensitive information about you.
At Authentic Human, your privacy, autonomy, and wellbeing are of the utmost importance. For these reasons, AI and insurance companies are not invited to your counseling session.
